MOVIE AND VIDEO SITES

Over the years the City of Bertram and the area around Bertram have been the locations for various movies, videos, TV programs, and commercials. Bertram’s historic buildings provide a rich backdrop for “vintage” shoots, and Bertram’s Historic Train Depot and tracks also provide backdrops for historical or period shoots. Additionally, the diversity and beauty of the countryside lends itself to a variety of possibilities.

The City of Bertram and many area land owners are receptive to commercial filming. Please contact City Hall at 512.355.2197 for more information.

Two of the more famous movies shot in Bertram were Courage under Fire in1996 and The Newton Boys in 1998. Country music favorites, The Derailers, shot a video here in 1995. Harley Davidson used Vaughan Street and several historic buildings for a backdrop for their 2006 Annual Parts Catalogue, and Brooks and Dunn shot a Toyota commercial here in 2008.

Steven and Sylvia William’s Stonebridge Gardens has been featured on KLRU, and you can see them featured in Shed Style on this link: www.shedstyle.com

The train/car head-on wreck scene in Courage under Fire, starring Denzel Washington, Meg Ryan, Lou Diamond Philips and Matt Damon was filmed just west of Bertram in 1996.

Iron Star Hall, located on North Grange was once a lumber company. The interior of the building was completely renovated for the filming of The Newton Boys in 1998.
